HOUSTON, January 22, 2009 - Alliance Engineering (“Alliance”), part of international energy services company John Wood Group PLC (“Wood Group”), recently celebrated its 15th year of operation. The company, founded in Houston in 1993, initially employed 10 people.
Alliance’s first major break-though came in 1994 with the award from China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC) for help with a Middle East oil gathering center and from ExxonMobil for development studies for arctic Russia. In 1996, Alliance expanded into the design and engineering of pipelines, compressor stations and onshore oil and gas production facilities, eventually opening offices in Denver in 2004 and Durango, Colorado in 2006. Alliance became part of Wood Group in 2000.
Today, Alliance employs more than 400 employees in its three offices, serving the oil & gas industry with three business units – Deepwater, Shelf/FPSO and Onshore. The company has provided conceptual through detail design and start-up assistance for many of the industry’s most notable projects, including the Independence Hub, Perdido Regional Hub and Shenzi deepwater projects in the Gulf of Mexico; the detail design of the Jubilee floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel offshore Ghana; and the Rockies Express Pipeline compressor stations, covering 1600 miles from Wyoming to Ohio, onshore US, to name a few. Alliance’s founder and President Norb Roobaert noted, “Alliance has enjoyed a remarkable growth in both size and capabilities during our 15 year history and has established a well-deserved reputation for engineering excellence. Today, we are globally recognized for our expertise in topsides design for deepwater floating facilities, for our innovative FPSO solutions, and for our fit-for-purpose onshore compressor station designs. I am proud of our employees’ talent and dedication to our clients. I am also proud that we have developed an employer-of-choice culture that has enabled us to attract some of the best technical and management talent in Houston and Denver. We are looking forward to building on this success in the next 15 years and beyond.”
