Job Description
This position requires a detailed-oriented Engineer with significant experience in the energy industry (oil and gas, refinery, mining, power plant). Must have the ability to perform electrical design and engineering functions for pipeline pumping and compressor stations, liquid and gas storage plants and metering facilities in accordance with applicable codes and standards such as the National Electrical Code (NEC), Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEEE) and other electrical codes and standards. You should be a self-motivated individual with the capabilities and desire to work in a team environment.
Electrical Engineer Duties:
- Perform detailed design development including one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, power and lighting design, develop construction details, electrical equipment specifications, and perform electrical studies (coordination, short circuit, load flow and arc flash analysis)
- Apply standard engineering concepts to project design tasks
- Exhibit a working knowledge of applicable codes and standards
- Provide design guidance to electrical designers and drafters in their assignments
- Coordinate details and design criteria with other engineering disciplines
- Prepare engineering reports, studies, calculations and check drawings for completeness and accuracy
- Assist Lead Electrical Engineer with project electrical design duties such as monitor and advise Project Manager of design issues, concerns, and/or required changes, research suitable solutions and estimate cost and corresponding timeframe to complete
- Develop scope of work detail documents
- Prepare detail design deliverable, milestones, and man-hour estimates
- Ensure that Client and Company quality and standards are applied to meet company mission
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Minimum 15 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer
- Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering design for the Oil and Gas industry (natural gas compressor stations and treating facility design)
- Professional Registration or ability to obtain registration within one year
- Excellent verbal and written communication is required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the basic qualifications, the ideal candidate will also possess the following preferred qualifications:
- Electrical Calculation software (SKM, ETAP)
- Electrical project commission and construction experience
- Experience in Instrumentation and Controls
- Professional Registration
